Troop 692

About Troop 692

Boy Scout Troop 692, now sponsored by the American Legion Post 499, was formed in March 1997, with 10 boys graduating from Pack 692.

We meet Monday nights at the American Legion farm, moving to the American Legion Hall during winter. Meetings start at 7 P.M. and conclude around 8:30. The only exceptions are holidays which fall on Monday, or the Monday after a weekend activity. On the Monday evening after a weekend activity, the Troop Committee meets. During the school year, there are usually no meetings on non-school days. Check the troop calendar for details.

Most boys in Troop 692 have attended or currently attend Lucy Franklin Elementary School in Blue Springs. North Spring U.M.C. is located near the Lucy Franklin attendance area. Our first campout was held in April 1997, camping at the Organized Youth Campground at Lake Jacomo. One of the boys created a banner sign ñLake Jacomo or Bustî, which was placed on the back window of one of the vehicles traveling to the overnight. The troop generally has an overnight activity each month and an extended overnight activity each summer.

Each summer, we attend a session at the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation, near Osceola, MO. The troop is very active in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, the honor camping program at the Bartle Scout Reservation. For more information about the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, visit the Mic-O-Say website at www.mic-o-say.org. The troop has been a quality unit each year since it started.

Troop 692 charges $39.00 annually in dues, prorated to the end of the calendar year. This includes National Boy Scout Registration and a subscription to Boy's Life. The remainder is used to offset various troop expenses such as rank badges, etc. Those transferring from another unit are charged $1.75 per month to the end of the calendar year. Boy Scouting is available to male youth from age 11 to 18. Those under age 11 must have completed the fifth grade, or have obtained the Cub Scout Arrow of Light award.
